 Since 2006, the annual “Conference on Urban Development and Planning” (CUDP) has been successfully held for 11 years. With great supports from governments and organizations at home and abroad, CUDP has now ranked one of the most influential events in urban development relevant industries of China with ever increasing scale and impact each year, and seen more than 20,000 participants in total, including officials, experts, scholars and insiders of governments, organizations and companies from dozens of countries, such as China, UK, US, Germany, Denmark, France, Canada, Korea, Japan, Singapore etc..


For the concern of air pollution problems and other ecological challenges in Chinese cities, the government aims to develop environmentally friendly urban construction measurements to promote the development of sustainable cities and to improve the quality of lives. Therefore, the theme of the conference this year is “ City Reparation, Ecological Rehabilitation and Livability, Green Wisdom”, includes 20 session hot topics, such as Ecological Livable City Planning and Construction, Urban and Rural Planning Reform & City Transformation, Theory and Practice of Ecological Restoration & City Repair, Xiong’an New Area and Coordinated Development of Bejing Tianjin and Hebei Province. The conference was organized by Chinese Society for Urban Studies, Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of Hunan Province and, People’s Government of Haikou City.


The 2017 (12th) Conference on Urban Development and Planning gathered more than 2,000 experts, scholars and urban planners, companies and journalists at home and abroad. Mr. Gang YU (Professor of Tsinghua University & General Secretary of CSUS) hosted the opening ceremony. Mr. Baoxing QIU (Counsellor of the State Council of China & Former Vice Minister of Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, P. R. China & President of Chinese Society for Urban Studies), 

Mr. Shijiang DING (Director General of the Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of Hainan Province),  Mr. Qi ZHANG (Standing Member of Hainan provincial party committee & Municipal party secretary of Haikou City), Mr. Andreas KUHLMANN (Chef of German Energy Bureau), and so on, attended the opening ceremony.


Mr. Wolfgang FREY (Chairman of Frey Architekten Group) and Ms. Jiakun WANG( Partner, China regional director) were invited as experts in passive house building field, both attended and gave reports on different session topics: Mr. FREY delivered a report on “Heidelberg Village -- the world’s largest passive house residential community” in session topic “Latest Development of Smart City Construction “ and also another report on “Passive House Low-energy Consumption Building Practice in China” in session topic “International Eco City Advanced Theory and Practice”. Ms. WANG did a report on “Introduction of Eco Community in Freiburg, Germany” in session topic “Green Eco-community Evaluation and Development”. In addition, Mr. Baoxing Qiu delivered a report and a speech in the opening ceremony and session topic “International Eco City Advanced Theory and Practice”, respectively.


The Urban Development and Planning Exhibition held at the same time, includes various urban planning relevant industries, such as green building, sustainable transportation, water ecological environment management, geographical spatial data & engineering  service, sustainable development of environmental resource, big data and research innovation, landscape design, and so on. During the conference, the committee organized several local technical inspection lines in Haikou, integrated theories with practice innovation, built interactive communication platforms for peers in planning industries and, established a solid foundation for the further cooperation.
