The 'Nanchang Zhongsen Honggu First Product-Passive Kindergarten' of the German Frye Construction Group won the 'East China 2020 Building Energy Conservation Award'.


The awards ceremony will be broadcast live online. At 3 pm on September 16, the awards ceremony officially began. This awards ceremony was delivered by representatives of the Federation of German Overseas Chambers of Commerce and the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Shanghai. Professor Zhang Xu from Tongji University delivered a keynote speech.


A total of 16 projects were evaluated and assessed by the jury consisting of three judges. Ultimately, five applicants were chosen as winners and the companies‘ representatives invited to briefly introduce the idea and technical background behind their awarded project. 


Nanchang Zhongsen Honggu Yipin-Passive Kindergarten is the first passive kindergarten demonstration project certified by German PHI in Jiangxi Province. The project is located in the north area of the second phase of Zhongsen International Garden. In order to meet the teaching and activity needs of 12 classes, the building outline is curved along the hypotenuse of the triangular land to maximize the width of the building’s south-facing aspect and achieve class activities The classrooms are centrally arranged for easy management; the outdoor playing field is regular to meet the needs of large-scale events or class combined games.



The architectural design style meets the psychological needs of children and creates the atmosphere of a fairy tale town. Slope-top huts and small spires are important architectural elements in the fairy tale world. The rich colors and diverse openings provide children with greater imagination. In the European-style residential district, the kindergarten becomes a lively and beautiful scenery. The project has also become the first passive kindergarten certified by the Chinese Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and the German PHI Passive House Institute in a hot summer and cold winter area in China.
