Wuyi Plazza is located in key area of Taiyuan city center, with very complicated surrounding environment conditions. The new building aims to blend into the surroundings, adapting to, adjusting and promoting the existing city mesh texture.
It is the largest challenge for this project that in such high cost city center to achieve high building volume rate as well as to create pleasant urban spaces around the building. The project includes three encircled high-rise towers, located in northern base near Wuxi Square, the highest tower among those three is 88 meters high.
Those three towers together with existing buildings on the north side create a sunken plaza, which is embraced by surrounding buildings. Its complete space form provides quiet and comfortable staying quality, meanwhile, as the connection between northwest side (Wuyi Square) and southeast side (residential area) shows a dynamic space property. Two sides of the square connect with the main streets, and middle sunken area well combined with surrounding commerce and recreation functions, also providing areas for citizens´ self organized cultural lives.
The architectural form of Wuyi Plazza presents in a streamline free state, the building size decreases gradually form bottom to up. This architecture form minimized influences of sunlight blocking by surrounding buildings on urban space thorough accurate sunlight simulation tests. The white outer painting face together with dark long horizontal windows and perforated shade plates presenting a facade expression with light and shade effect. The arrangement of those shade plates is quite flexible, and it can easily meet the different demands of commercial and office functions, also maintains the sense of integration on Wuxi Plazza appearance.
